Tyson - In your case sinse you own a local business you want to target key phrases that people search for to find photographers in your area.

Example:

Search Google for: "Photography in Layton, Utah"
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Photography+Layton+Utah&btnG=Search

You are #1 for that phrase, great!

What else do people search for to find your service? Do you offer service in other regions? What is it you offer?

What you need to do is be in all those places, this can be done by writing focused copy on your website.

Your site is a snap, it could be optimized with little work. :)

Hi, I am new to the whole internet marketing thing. I run a Photography business and am interested in getting more traffic to my site by interested clients. Any help would be appreciated. I knew an Arron Pratt that lived in Layton,Ut when I was younger. That wouldn't be the same Aaron would it?

Thanks

Thanks Peter, there is good news about the change of direction and re-branding so far. With the few products I have reviewed (to build content and site flavor) Google has ranked it very well simply on the quality of the information. It appears that if you go from selling "dog gift baskets" to "pet supplies" it is an acceptable change algorithmically. If I was to go from "dog gift baskets" to "car parts" I bet the incoming pagerank from related sites would not benefit pet supplies. Make sense?

Anyhoo, as for making the site pretty, that comes later, I am still building content to let the engines know that I am all about pet gifts AND supply. I do not really have any plan for the site (like all my websites) they are just for learning about online marketing in search engines. The few dollars I take in go directly into my sons education which might be what they will be used for forever in the future if they are not determined to be of no value to organic search algorithms.

A monthly update is also a good idea, will do another post when time allows me...

Hi there
And i can understand why sales are dropping / there are no sales at all.

When i come at the site it looks like they sell grass (looking at bg and colors).
I see new items getting blogged but dont understand what the visitor needs to do. There is no real (big) option to press buy or more info and no product picture (the iframe only displays some pricing info about the product, images are always broken).

Try like you stated above and look more at the amazon website. They give a clear 1/2line desc of the product in bold and then start a new paragraph with additional information. I like the amazon site better because they focus on the costumer. If i am on abbys pet gifts and supplies, and i want more info/buy i will gather information from the selling website (more reliable).

The html code of the site looks ok. Here and there some double tags like the meta keywords etc.

Still im very interested in how the process of rebranding goes (how you have it in mind). Would be nice to post a weekly/2weekly/monthly update about this website.

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!!
